Belinfante Quartet



The Belinfante Quartet is quickly becoming known as one of the most innovative Dutch string quartets. With the aim of sharing a passion for music with the wider public, they perform works from the core of the string quartet repertoire and combine them with lesser-known masterpieces.The quartet has performed at festivals throughout Europe including the String Quartet Biënnale Amsterdam, International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht, Stift International Music Festival, Wonderfeel, and Beethoven und wir! Festival in Hannover. Recent engagements include performances in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, de Doelen, the Concertgebouw de Vereeniging, Nijmegen and TivoliVredenburg. The quartet has also performed live on NPO Radio 4 ‘Avondconcert’ and on BBC Radio 3.Belinfante Quartet, their education and their projects receive financial assistance from Kersjesfonds, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, and Anja Fichte Stiftung. We would like to thank them for their generous support.

With their name, the quartet would like to honour Frieda Belinfante, being a cellist and the first professional female conductor in Europe. Her sincerity, perseverance and fervour, in music as well as in other aspects of her life, form a magnificent source of inspiration.

Belinfante Quartet has a long-term working relation with 7MNTN, their first album Ellipse has been nominated for an Edison Award in the category ‘newcomer’ in 2023. Their second album Parallel 40 is released in February 2024.
