Album description:

Christiaan Verbeek’s successful release Texelodes is followed by the EP album MCO Solo. Whereas on Texelodes a very eclectic combination of styles passes by, on MCO Solo Verbeek shows he is a gifted improviser and musical storyteller too on just 1 instrument: the grand piano.

Still and long-resonant harmonies, surrounded by lilting melodies reminiscent of Texelodes, are interspersed with faster chord progressions and occasionally erratic rhythmic responses. But even on this shorter album, Verbeek’s favourite place (Texel) is not far away and the listener is taken on a strongly Keith Jarrett-inspired and pure, live solo recital with no interference from recording technology in it.
